This week we check in with Linda Samuel; a strong-willed and spiritual woman that was officially diagnosed with Scleroderma in February of 2009. Her pains and struggles with the disease began as far back as 1999 and included body temperature irregularities after bathing.
Linda writes:
After bathing I felt extremely cold for a long time. I had to put on a pair of socks and sweat pants for at least three hours before my body regained its normal temperature. It did not matter if the water I used for bathing was cold or hot.
Most of us complain if our teeth chatter for more than two minutes after bathing. We rush to throw on our bath robes or quickly dress to regain our body heat. But with her battle against Scleroderma it would be hours before Linda would feel warm again.
She’d even wear sweat suits and socks to bed for fear of waking up very cold during the night.
We encourage you to read her story here and even leave a comment in her support. Let’s keep her glass half full with hope for finding a cure for Scleroderma. We can work together to help those like Linda by donating to Scleroderma research and sharing their stories with others.
After your shower today, did you wait three chilling hours before feeling comfortable again?
