Philadelphia – The City of Brotherly Competition

At the beginning of June in 2015, Casie Merza broke and set the new consecutive bounce record with an astonishing 75,005 bounces; a very impressive feat that takes a great deal of mental fortitude beyond physical endurance to pursue. This accomplishment not only got her in the Guinness World Record books but also a chance to defend her title in Philadelphia.

On Thursday, July 2nd, a new attempt at the consecutive bounce record will take place with a unique twist unlike ever before: three endurance athletes will compete head-to-head in what is being labeled as the “Battle of the Bounce.” Our very own James Roumeliotis will be looking to reclaim the title back for Boston as he competes against Casie as well as Jack Sexty, a marathon athlete who claimed the record for farthest distance on a pogo stick a back in 2013 by pogoing the Manchester Marathon.

The venue, Paines Park in Downtown Philadelphia will host all three athletes beginning at 7:00AM and ending when no one can continue. Another addition this year is being able to stream and watch live online as the event unfolds. Casie has put together the website www.countthebounce.com to keep a running tally of all three counters as well as a live stream of the event. Follow online July 2nd and enjoy the fun from the comfort of your own chair!

As with previous world record attempts, James is fundraising for the Scleroderma Research Foundation to help find a cure. A donation site has been established with the foundation and 100% of donations go directly to the SRF. Thank you for the support!
