Project For Awesome – A Great YouTube Movement

Here is a cause worth watching. Project For Awesome ramps up toward the end of the year to help promote charities on December 17th and 18th on YouTube.  It’s pretty impressive and here’s their video reflecting back on the 2010 campaign:

What’s really neat about Project For Awesome is they lift up other charities.  They aren’t a lone site and YouTube channel pushing for random publicity and clicks; they encourage you to join their journey in promoting your favorite cause.  It isn’t just about them.  They interview and feature people that are involved with causes that help others in need.

By crowdsourcing they pushed their videos to the top of YouTube search listings last year.  Viewers and those directly involved with the project would comment and “like” the videos that were being posted on the P4A channel. The overwhelming support rocketed them up the search listings and they essentially took over YouTube for the days that they really pushed.

How does this help others?  They shined a spotlight on different causes and charities in hopes to spread awareness and raise donations.  The combined efforts of viewers and the creators of the project reached out and touched lives.  Now that truly is awesome.
